Jarvis Raymond's music has been
captivating audiences throughout the mid-west for years. Beginning as
early as age twelve, Jarvis Raymond has been playing guitar and
composing for the better part of his life. In 2001, Jarvis Raymond was
accepted to Millikin University where he studied classical guitar under
NPR soloist Manley Mallard and received the Young Artists Award. In
2002, he transferred to Northern Illinois University where he studied
jazz under virtuoso guitarist Fareed Haque and received his Bachelors
of Music with honors. In 2007 Jarvis Raymond completed his Masters of
Music at Webster University and graduated with honors. That same year
he had the privelege of studying with jazz legend Jack Wilkins.
Since then he has performed and toured both nationally and
internationally
with musical theatre productions, on cruise ships and with his own trio.
The Jarvis Raymond Trio explores the beauty and subtleties of the Great
American Songbook in addition to original jazz in the same style.
Whether performing the classic songs of Irving Berlin and Cole Porter
or the modern compositions of John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, the trio
contributes their own personal approach to every tune they play. Among
these three like-minded musicians, musical interaction is valued above
all else, resulting in a lasting and rewarding musical experience for
both musician and listener alike.
